Protect Social Security

Social Security is not an entitlement. Workers earn and deserve every benefit through a lifetime of contributions.

Currently, the income cap for Social Security is set at $184,500 a year. While the Social Security cap raises every year, based on national average wage growth, it is not meeting the needs of inflation and the current economy.

Every year, Social Security keeps 20 million seniors and 1 million children out of poverty. Letting Social Security become defunct would devastate our economy and prevent millions of seniors from retiring with dignity.

To protect Social Security for future generations without cutting benefits, I support removing the payroll tax cap so that the wealthiest Americans contribute from all of their income—not just the first portion subject to payroll taxes today.

This simple change strengthens the long-term stability of Social Security while ensuring working families aren't asked to carry the burden alone. Removing the cap on social security would make the system solvent for more than 70 years, ensuring the next generation has a stake in this crucial program.

If you've paid into Social Security your entire career, the government should keep its promise to you.

Key Points:

  • Remove the Income Cap on Social Security.
