America is both a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants. We must secure our borders while also treating people with dignity.

The current immigration system is failing. It is too slow, too complicated, too expensive, and too disconnected from America's workforce needs.

During my thirteen-year tenure as a State Trooper, I gained firsthand knowledge of principled law enforcement. I have witnessed the consequences when a department functions devoid of oversight, lacking transparency, and failing to uphold the fundamental principles of due process.

The current state of ICE has deviated so far from its original purpose that the colleagues I served with would find it unrecognizable. When an agency can cause the death of American citizens in Minneapolis without facing any consequences, it ceases to be a legitimate law enforcement body and instead becomes a tool for political agendas.

Legitimate immigration enforcement requires due process.

I support modernizing our immigration system by strengthening border security, investing in immigration courts to reduce backlogged cases, creating earned pathways to citizenship for long term law abiding residents, protecting Dreamers and DACA recipients, expanding legal immigration pathways for workers our economy needs, and holding employers accountable for knowingly exploiting undocumented labor.

Secure borders and compassionate immigration are not competing values.

America is strongest when we uphold both.
